"Erez says that Israel used airstrikes to deliberately “explode” Israeli houses in a “Mass Hannibal” event on 7 October.

Yasmin Porat, a survivor of the bloodshed at Kibbutz Be’eri, near the boundary with Gaza, says many Israeli civilians were killed by Israeli forces.

"The Hannibal Directive is the name of a controversial procedure that was used by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to prevent the capture of Israeli soldiers by enemy forces. According to one version, it says that “the kidnapping must be stopped by all means, even at the price of striking and harming our own forces.”

It was introduced in 1986, after a number of abductions of IDF soldiers in Lebanon and subsequent controversial prisoner exchanges. “By all means” was often interpreted literally, as in “an IDF soldier was ‘better dead than abducted'”.

Colonel Nof Erez told a Haaretz podcast in November, that “the Hannibal Directive was apparently applied” and that 7 October “was a mass Hannibal.”

"French police have arrested a fugitive yoga sect leader called Gregorian Bivolaru and 40 of his followers.

A reported 175 officers carried out morning raids on different arms of the group, often called Misa or Atman.

Police also found 26 women being held in "deplorable conditions", according to AFP news agency.
